Southwest Suburban Social Security Disability Lawyer John E. Horn of the law firm of Horn & Kelley, P.C., just won benefits for a client with prostate cancer and depression. Social Security found that listing 13.24A was met since March 16, 2012, by claimant’s prostate according to the testimony of the medical expert at the hearing. Cancer of the prostate was found by needle biopsy March 16, 2012. There was trouble with the treatment and the medications used in the treatment in that they caused serious symptoms that precluded gainful employment. The record documents progressive or recurrent prostate cancer despite initial hormonal intervention. (A previous medical expert who had not completely reviewed the record found claimant capable of light work, but this opinion was rejected because the reviewer had not reviewed all the evidence.) The treating oncologist was of the opinion that claimant had met the listing since May 28, 2013.
Southwest Suburban Social Security Disability Lawyer Horn said, “It’s unfortunate that Social Security decision makers did not understand how serious my client’s impairments were. He met one of Social Security’s listings, which meant he was very ill indeed. I’m glad we were able to get our client benefits back to March 16, 2012.” Horn is an attorney who represents people on disability claims at every level in Chicagoland, Northwest Indiana, and nationwide.
